Tips for Taking Care of Your Dance Costume
-
Label Everything – Write your dancer’s name on all costume pieces, including accessories, shoes, and garment bags, to prevent mix-ups.
-
Use a Garment Bag – Store costumes in a labeled garment bag to keep them clean and organized.
-
Avoid Eating in Costume – Food and drinks can stain fabric, so wait until after performing to eat.
-
Hang Up Immediately – Always hang costumes after wearing them to prevent wrinkles.
-
Spot Clean Only – If needed, gently clean small stains with a damp cloth instead of washing the whole costume.
-
Store Accessories Carefully – Keep small pieces like hair accessories and gloves in a labeled ziplock bag inside the garment bag.
-
Transport with Care – Carry costumes in a way that prevents them from getting crushed or wrinkled.
-
Check Before Leaving – Make sure all costume pieces are packed before heading to the performance or home.
Taking good care of your costume ensures it looks great for every performance!
